47 guests' feedbackUpon arrival and check in, a bug ran across the register. The room is located against the parking area and the curtains are poor quality - I had to use a blanket to make my own blockout. There are no teaspoons, thank goodness and don't drink sugar. For the price they can provide better coffee. Everyone has access to the place, moving in and out freely. All that can count as a plus is the aircon and generator.
The rooms need upgrading. Very old fashioned. There had also been exposed wiring in the room's wardrobe.
Friendly and accommodating. Ideally located. They were friendly on and off the phone. Lovely bunch of people.
The cleaning of the rooms is done by the cleaners however it is clear that the soaps used to clean and wash linen are cheaply bought in bulk and then further diluted with water to save costs. This means that bedsheets smell unclean and dusty even after they are washed. I asked for my linen to be changed several times but this did not help. The WiFi in all the houses is absolutely atrocious. It will be very frustrating to get on Zoom calls if you are traveling for work. The food at the accommodation is average at best, the breakfast is inedible, definitely not worth R120!
Some places just stand out. Last year I booked more than 100 places for my technicians across the country. My technician asked for the same spot again. It's quiet and clean and well located.
I will definitely go there next time.

Rooms not only. Hot/cold water swapped. Children completely in separate rooms. Security does not exhibit professional behavior. Parking dirty. Best was the bar area.

Very ideal for business visit.
The room only had one towel and practically used up toilet paper. The outdoor furniture had not been cleaned for a long time. The afternoon/evening staff are friendly but that's it. The food to say in one word awful. The cook's experience is certainly not a trained one and has been working there for years. The "crumbed" batter is just one word bad and is the same for eisbein, pork chop and lamb chop. Terrible affair plus vegetables must have been cooked throughout the previous day Rotten!

We had to ring the bell a few times to get someone to check us in. The bed and especially the pillows were rock hard. There wasn't even a water bottle in the fridge. We won't book this accommodation again.

I really enjoyed my stay with them. Plus point for the lodge is the a la carte restaurant on site. If my wife and I happen to sit down at a restaurant, I order fish for my main course, because I live on a farm and eat meat every day. I ordered hake cooked in a batter and told the lady serving us that it was the biggest portion and the tastiest I've ever had at a diner. My biggest compliments go to them for the delicious meal and the service we received in the restaurant and in general and would recommend them to anyone anytime. Thanks, that was great.
I just want to thank the management of Woodpecker Inn for their help and assistance during the time our school tour group stayed there. Service was wonderful, hospitality top notch. Thank you.

Advertisement on web page is misleading. It's very old and the bed is uncomfortable. There is no hot water in the shower, literally no water came out. We couldn't use the toilet unless you were willing to hold the handle in for three minutes until it finally flushed. They mentioned about water pressure, but our son and mother's room had enough water pressure. Not safe at all. Not fenced. No security door in front of the glass door.

Unfortunately, I have nothing good to say about the place. We had to cut our holiday short because they were not willing to refund our money. Their customer service is incredibly poor. No one is willing to help, but quick to stand ready for the money. We made complaints to LekkeSlaap about the place being unclean; the air conditioner is held at the top with paper; it's old and went off by itself at night or was left off. Everything is old, but on the advertisements the places are described as modern. The place is not safe at all. Doors are open and not locked at night and there is no secure parking for the cars. There is no security fence, gate or even controlled exit. Again, this is described on the ad as 'secure parking'. I asked the owner as well as the people who work there what stops anyone from walking in there and taking everything, then they said anyone can enter the premises, but it is safe. All that protected us from the street was the door of our room. I am very disappointed in LekkeSlaap as well as Woodpecker Inn. In my eyes this was a false ad that was posted and I bitterly regret not looking at the comments and doing more research on the area before booking. We have already booked through LekkeSlaap and trust all their comments are right for the place.
Clean and tidy in rooms. Breakfast was top notch! Staff friendly and always helpful. Very homey atmosphere.

Enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and the fact that the restaurant and swimming pool were near my room. I will definitely come back to Woodpecker Inn if in Richards Bay.

Real value for your money. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They serve an unbelievable breakfast. I only have one criticism, the rooms are within close proximity to each other and some guests were quite noisy.

Was first placed in very small and noisy room. After complaining, we were moved to the room we had initially booked. It was spacious and comfortable with significantly less noise.
We did not enjoy it at all. The one woman (very nice) did bring me flowers and apologized. I quite appreciated it. The other woman, Marinda Venter never apologized. She was extremely inept and unprofessional. My husband and I went home 2 days before the deadline. My daughter and her husband stayed on. The place is not up to standard at all in my opinion. It's messy dirty. The mold and moss are everywhere. The shower curtain was messy and dirty. I felt nauseous showering there I am not at all surprised that there was still room available. For the price, you probably can't expect better. The grading of the place is also not up to standard. 3 star!? No what, I've stayed at loads of places that aren't even 1 star that have better standards. When we arrived it was also spelled out for us that we have to wash the dishes ourselves. The cleaners are also not properly trained. No respect for the guests' privacy. The towels look like they were last changed 10 years ago. There was no sealed bath soap and no shampoo either. They did mention to my daughter that they would refund one night's money. In my opinion it was an absolute waste of money and precious time.
The place is run down and needs a henge "makeover". It's also not a place for young people as there are no activities for young people. I would definitely not advise anyone to stay at the Woodpecker Inn. Disorganized, facilities are taken away from people after they have been given. Swimming pool is very small and cramped, air conditioning very old and breaks frequently, TVs old and color pathetic, shower curtain moldy and rooms received dirty. Refrigerators in rooms dirty and smelly, they are not cleaned.
It is a very peaceful area. We could barbecue every night. I would recommend it for sure.
We really enjoyed the holiday. I only experienced that the bathroom was not up to standard, the shower's drain cap was broken and you can hurt your feet quite badly. The toilet seat was also cracked. As it gets quite hot in Natal in the summer months I suggest upgrading the air conditioning. I also think it should be mentioned that the kitchen in the cottage can be reserved for 6 people or more at extra cost.
The floors were dusty, but otherwise everything was great.

Lovely surroundings, nice garden and pool area. Had a very comfortable stay. In general, the buildings are very beautiful and interior decoration shows good taste.
It is a lovely place to sleep over. Friendly service is at the top of the list!
